How do you E-Mail the people who submitted the stories on your documentary page?

Hi Lisa, At this stage there has been nothing set up to contact people who wrote the stories on the site other than to comment on the stories and that would be then posted on the website. The only other way is for me to forward your e-mail to them....l have done this in the past and perhaps this will lead me to have a comment section at the end of each story. Thanks for visiting the web pages, If you would like me to try and forward your e-mail, l would be more than happy to although there may be one or two people l wouldn't be able to contact.
All the best

I have a friend whom recently found out she has contracted the AIDS virus. She is 17 years old.
The guy who she contracted it knew he had it and did not tell her. I support all those with the disease but please don't deny it, especially from those who love you and from yourself.... take care.

Her eyes cry for a heart full of unfulfilled dreams her heart aches for he has been the only one let in her mind is tired for this problem she can find no solution her body rests for she has to make each minute last.
We love you steff.

I created webpage of some of my sister's writings. I'd like to add it as a link to your site. The page name is AIDS Memorial for Davene Marie Whitfield Al-Ibrahim and the address is:
- sorry....link no longer active -
I also would like to add a little bit of background information and a little about my story.

My sister died 6/5/99 from AIDS related complications. She was 34 years old, 47 days before her 35th birthday.
I was planning on bringing her here for vacation (she lived in Tx I live in Fl) for 6/9-6/13. I turned in my vacation request at the end of May.
June 3 or 4 she was admitted to Medical City Hospital in Odessa, Tx. She had open heart surgery. She had been injecting drugs (not sure what - there was no autopsy) into an infected central line that went directly to her heart.
She flatlined once and was revived.
My mother called me Friday evening and told me she was in the hospital and that they weren't going to revive her again, with her permission.
She agreed. Davene didn't want to be kept alive. She had already left. I called the Dr and he told me he didn't expect her to last the weekend.
I went to a friend's house and he offered to use his frequent flyer miles to get me a ticket. (Bob, you're the best). I was booked on a 12 noon direct flight to DFW by 2 am. My mother told me 'get here'. I was a mess. I went to work to tie up loose ends and told the girl there that I needed to talk to my boss. I did a little work, bought a can of oj on the way in (never opened it-still have it). At 9:30 am I left the office. I got home and my mother had called. My sister died at about 6:08 in the morning Saturday June 5, 99. She had been in and out of the hospital so much that we didn't think a whole lot about it. The last time we spoke (in May - she was in the hospital again) I told her I wasn't ready for her to die. She laughed and said she wasn't going to die. I cried,I screamed, I begged. She wouldn't take her meds right the last 6 months of her life and she was on drugs and her body just gave out on her.
I cannot describe the horrible emptiness I feel in my life. We were quite close. I sent Davene a package for mothers day because I didn't want her to feel left out. (she didn't have kids - neither do I; both of us LOVE them though). I made her a beautiful shadow box. I sent her my 'Itty Bitty Bear' (from an arbys kids meal I think) cuz we both collect them. I told her to take him with her wherever she went and when she needed to feel me with her, look at Itty Bitty Bear and know that I love her.
It was in her back pocket when she went to the hospital.
I'm sorry I can't write more right now too painful.
Just had a nervous breakdown intensive therapy right now.
Thanks for listening
Julie

Thank-you Julie for telling Davenes story and l will add your website to the Links page.

Dan was inquiring on the ways Heterosexuals become positive.(Feedback Three)
I can give you a first hand example I am female and I've been positive 10 years.
It was pretty simple I was dating a guy over a period of 2 years with in those 2 years we broke up once and got back together again. The character of this person may be necessary to describe.
He was taking cociane ,crack and probably other street drugs but without my full knowledge. He would never do it around me And would never give me straight answers I only had to deal with his intolerable personality and character under the influence of these drugs.
I was 19 at the time I started dating him ,so I was gullible and vulnerable {naive} When we dated for the 2nd time around I was not happy and he came home one night really messed up I couldn't deal with it anymore So I asked him to leave, he became angry and threatened my life.
After this unpleasant experience he sent a letter to me saying "You are going to die of AIDS ,I purposely went out and got it when we broke up and have given to you."
Of course I went and had a check up and sure enough .
This was the way I became HIV positive.

Hello Carolena,
I have just discovered your site, and I think it's exactly what was needed, especially the stories and feedback. I will certainly come back from time to time and see it again. And Sonja looks wonderful in that swish photo!
I am writing a thesis on Aust literary writing about AIDS for a PhD at Monash. I will be giving a paper at the Aust Homosexual Histories Conference at Melbourne University (Nov 19-20). Anyone interested can come. See you there? I'll give your site a plug under "current writing".
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes,
Helen McCulloch

Thanks Helen for you response, I'm glad that you found the site useful!
All the best for giving your paper at the conference, I'll certainly try to make it.
Carolena
