Darkness and desperation

I am also in a period of darkness and desperation. Two weeks ago, I probably had unprotected sex with somebody in a bathhouse who was most likely a meth (drug) user. He was sweating so much at that time and seemed to be on a high. I did not go into the bathhouse intending to have sex; rather, just out of curiosity to see what goes on in there. Anyways, I got caught up in the moment with this very attractive guy and on hindsight, I was not sure if he wore a condom. Now, my lymph gland is swollen and I have developed suddenly rashes all over my body. I should be getting the results of the PCR and p24 blood tests next week. However, I already feel that I am HIV+.

Anyways, I wanted to tell everyone what has sustained me through these past few trying weeks, and as a result find a sense of hope despite your own circumstances. My hope is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who loves us no matter where we are, where we have been and what we have done. You see there is something worse than death and that is to die separated from the God who loves us.(1) Yet, it does not have to be that way.

The Bible in John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Why do people have to "perish" without believing in Christ? That is because we are all sinners, people who have broken God's laws (the "Ten Commandments" for example). Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Moreover, Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages [penalty] of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." That is why we celebrate Easter Jesus Christ died in our place on the cross (paying the penalty of our sins) so that we can have eternal life instead.
So, how do I avoid death and instead gain the gift of eternal life? Well, first of all, a gift is freely given; otherwise, it would not be a gift. Secondly, the receiver of the gift must accept it. To have the gift of eternal life, we must accept it by an act of faith. (2) We do not have to work for it (i.e. "good balancing the bad"). But what is faith? Well, faith is putting our belief and hope on something or someone that we have not yet seen. (3)
Now, how do we express that faith in Jesus Christ? Romans 10:9 says "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
If you are ready to accept this gift of eternal life, you may choose to say this prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please forgive my sins. I believe that you died for me on the cross and have risen again. Be my Lord and Savior and come into my life. The prayer does not save you; rather, it is your faith in Jesus Christ that saves you."
If you said and meant that prayer, like the thief on the cross, you have now said to Jesus Christ, „Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom. To which, Jesus answered Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise. (4) Once you make that decision of faith, eternal life in heaven will forever be yours. (5)
Not only will you have eternal life when you pass on, Jesus Christ will also be with you even now through all your sufferings and sorrows. You could call on Him by prayer and faith. It would also be a good idea to start reading the Bible (especially the books of Psalms and John) and to find a good local church to attend.

Therefore, the answer to our emptiness, hopelessness, and search for meaning is not in sex, drugs, etc. It is in Jesus Christ alone that the voids in our hearts can be finally filled. Please do not delay make this decision today!!!

(1)Revelation 20:14 says "Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire [hell]. This is the second death."
(2)Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Saved is just another word for having "eternal life"
(3)Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
(4)Luke 23:42-43
(5)John 10:28 quotes Jesus saying "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand."
